20th Anniversary Gala – A Place Where Dreams Come True

Organization Overview
Since 1986, the Atlanta Children's Shelter, Inc. has provided a loving day shelter for Atlanta homeless children and support for their families' efforts to be self-sufficient.  As the first year-round childcare program for homeless families in the state,  the Shelter is a model program focused on:

• the care of children, 
•  support of families, and
• advocacy and networking.
  

The goal of the Shelter is to help families achieve long term, self-sufficiency – to break the cycle of homelessness permanently. Since its start, the Shelter has helped more than 5,000 homeless families gain independence and has served more than 7,600 homeless children.

20th Anniversary Gala
In celebration of its 20-year history of service to homeless families, the Atlanta Children’s Shelter will host a special Anniversary Gala to recognize founders and key supporters and to position the organization for future success.

Preliminary event details are as follows:  

• Friday, October 20, 2006  at 7:00 p.m.
• The Foundry at Puritan Mill (916 Lowery Boulevard)
• Celebration event with dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions.
• Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Shelter. This is the organization’s first fundraiser.
